About Actuaries Day
Celebrating India's Actuarial Profession
Actuaries Day is celebrated annually on 21 August to commemorate the birth anniversary of
Late Shri L.S. Vaidyanathan, India's first actuary and a pioneer in the field. Organised
by the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI), this event has become the main annual
gathering for actuaries, students, members, industry leaders, regulators, and academics
from across the financial and risk ecosystem.
Over the years, Actuaries Day has become a platform for learning,
collaboration, and recognition, where members of the profession
come together to exchange ideas, explore emerging opportunities,
and celebrate the contribution of actuaries to businesses, governments,
and society.
Whether you are a student beginning your actuarial journey, a young professional building your career,
or an experienced practitioner shaping the future of the profession, Actuaries Day offers an opportunity
to learn from experts, connect with peers, and gain insights into the evolving role of actuaries across
diverse industries.
Join us as we celebrate our profession, honour our pioneers, and explore the endless possibilities that lie ahead.
